Michael Earl "Mickey" Pouncy-Jones

OBITUARY

Minister Michael “Mickey” Pouncy-Jones was born June 27, 1976 to Myrtis Marie Jones and Michael Jones. 

Mickey accepted Christ in 1982 at the age of six and was baptized at Bright Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Maple.  From there God called him to preach.  He preached his first sermon at Bright Star Baptist Church in 1988 at the age of twelve.  From there he became a member of the Bright Star Male Chorus where he helped sing beautiful songs of Zion.

As we all know, he was a very well- educated gentleman.  Mickey started his education at Hollywood Elementary.  From there he ‘tiptoed’on over to Linwood Middle School.  His high school journey began at C. E. Byrd High School. However, that was not where his heart was so his tenth grade year he landed where his heart was, Booker T. Washington High School, and graduated in 1994.  Michael continued his education at Louisiana Tech where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1997.  After graduating, he went on to the University of Houston where he earned his Masters Degree in Sociology in 2000.  In 2014, Mickey Pouncy-Jones earned his Doctoral at Morehouse School of Medicine.
