Sister Vera Mae Winans
Sister Vera Mae Winans was born on April 30, 1932 in Greenwood,Louisiana to the parentage of Ennis Winans and Lula Grant. She was the eighth of nine children. Eight preceded her in death; Rosie Marshall, Thomas Dotson, Wilbert Winans, Ossie Ola Hamilton, John L. Dotson, Robert Marshall, Artie B. Henderson, and Lula M. Alfred. Special nephew, Eddie Nicholas (Bubba). One daughter betty W York, Son; Wesley J. Winans, Grandson; Jervae L. Winans Sr and Godson Herbert Davis also preceded her in death.
Vera accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age united with the New Greenwood Baptist Church Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, and reunited with the New Greenwood Baptist Church where she served faithfully for many years until her health declined.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Three daughters Linda W. Dotson (Raymond), Nancy W. Mayweather, Sherrie W. Morgan (Victor). Eldest niece, Dorothy Durden. Two sister-in-laws; Gladys Dotson & Francis Mazier, Son-in-law Arthur York, Daughter in law Gwen Winanas, God sister Dorothy M. Arkansas, God daughter Ruby Strange, Prayer partner Annie Douglas. 7 grandsons: Chea York (Henrietta), Dakinga and Ekeem York, Wesley J Morgan, Antonio Carter, Tryvion and Cordero Sweeney. 25 great grands, 5 great great grands and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family.
Interment: Greenwood Memorial Gardens
